The Officer-In-Charge at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Dominica, Doctor Kimone Joseph, graced the WePlanet incoming Ambassadors with her ever-so-vivacious presence on the 16th of November 2024 at the National Development Foundation of Dominica in Roseau.
Her composting words on Public Speaking and Community Engagement sprouted a seed within the ambassadors. "Stand tall—great posture is key!" she emphasised, demonstrating how confidence in delivery can transform a message. The ambassadors were introduced to a plethora of examples and scenarios that highlighted the critical distinctions between simply hearing, listening, and listening actively. This deepened their understanding of effective communication—a cornerstone for advocacy and change.
This presentation gave us expert insights that enriched our understanding of real-life interactions, particularly in scenarios we may encounter at our WePlanet Pop-ups. These insights prepared us to connect more meaningfully with individuals and convey our message with greater impact.
Additionally, the interactive activities and thought-provoking questions created a sense of inspiration and unity among the group. Many ambassadors felt a newfound connection to the cause and forged a memorable experience with Doctor Kimone Joseph.
Doctor Joseph, a role model and advocate for change, inspired a profound shift in perspective. She challenged us to see beyond our current circumstances and envision greater possibilities for ourselves and WePlanet Inc. Her presentation reinforced the idea that with passion, communication, and community engagement, we can spark environmentalism and drive impactful community work. Her small actions made a big change.
Thank you, Doctor Kimone Joseph, for your invaluable contribution and inspiration!
